Vienna

Vienna is a capital city of the Austrian Republic and one of the states of Austria. Another threat for the city came in the 16th and 17th centuries, when the Ottoman Empire tried to capture the city, but both attempts were unsuccessful. But Vienna suffered another disaster – bubonic plague. It killed almost the third of the entire population of the city. During the Napoleonic Wars Vienna was transformed into a capital of the Austrian Empire and later the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. After the World War I it became the capital of the first Austrian Republic.
